Hyundai Prepares a Third Facelift for the i30
Despite the popularity of crossovers, Hyundai continues to develop traditional models, among which is the i30 in hatchback, fastback, and wagon body styles. This generation of the compact has been in production since 2016, and the company seems to be planning another facelift to extend its life cycle.
A prototype of the i30 Tourer wagon was spotted near Hyundai’s European R&D center in Germany. Despite the camouflage wrap, it is visible that the model retains the design of the N Line package, including LED headlights and 18-inch wheels. However, the interior might receive an updated digital panel, like in the brand’s newer models.
Technical Features
In Europe, the i30 is offered with three engines: a base 1.5-liter (95 hp), a turbocharged 1.0-liter (99 hp), and a mild-hybrid 1.5-liter (138 hp). The facelift will likely bring minor adjustments for compliance with environmental standards. The debut of the updated version is expected in 2026.
Despite the market actively transitioning to electric vehicles, Hyundai demonstrates that classic cars can still remain relevant. This is especially true for the European market, where wagons and compact models are still in demand. Perhaps the next generation i30 will already be electric, but for now, the company has decided to maximize the potential of the existing platform.
