The company that makes your iPhone has now created an electric crossover with 468 horsepower

Foxconn introduces the new Cavira electric crossover

The company that assembles your iPhone now wants to build your next electric car. Foxconn, a Taiwanese contract manufacturer primarily known as an assembler for Apple, has unveiled its second electric vehicle. It is called the Cavira and was developed by the Foxtron division. This is a stylish SUV that will initially hit the market in Taiwan and later appear in other countries.

Dimensions and design

Visually, the Cavira resembles the smaller Foxtron Bria introduced earlier this year, which will also serve as the basis for a model under the Mitsubishi brand. But while the Bria is a compact hatchback, the Cavira is closer in size to the Tesla Model Y. Its length is 4695 mm, and its wheelbase is 2920 mm.

The front features a darkened lower grille and impressive headlights with the obligatory light strip you expect to see on a new Asian electric vehicle. Bold lines run along the doors, and at the rear there are thin LED lights and a spoiler extending from the roof.

Technical specifications

Two versions of the Cavira have been confirmed. The first, known as the Emerge Long-Range Edition, has a single rear electric motor with 249 hp (186 kW) and a claimed range of 578 km. Foxtron will also sell the Cavira in the Pioneer Long-Range Performance Edition, which uses two electric motors to achieve 468 hp (349 kW). This will reduce the range to 538 km, but the car can accelerate to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds. Both versions use the same 82.7 kWh LFP battery pack.

Interior and features

The interior of the Foxtron Cavira is fairly conventional, like many new electric vehicles. Key features include a large digital instrument cluster and a portrait-oriented 15.6-inch infotainment display. One element we like is the row of physical switches below this screen for important vehicle functions.

Other important interior features include a 12-speaker audio system, ventilated and heated front seats, over-the-air software update capability, and a fragrance system. All the safety features you expect from a modern electric vehicle are also present, including adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping technologies.

Thus, Foxconn is taking another step in the automotive industry, offering a competitive product in a segment dominated by Tesla. The Cavira combines modern design, powerful performance, and practical range, which could make it an attractive choice for buyers looking for an alternative to the Model Y. It is particularly interesting that a company known for its efficiency in electronics manufacturing is trying to apply a similar approach to cars, which could impact the price and accessibility of the model. Time will tell if Foxconn can become a serious player in the electric vehicle market, but the first steps look promising.
