JLR Owner Company Releases Electric Off-Roader with Drift Function for Just 25 Thousand Dollars

New Electric SUV from Tata

The new Tata Harrier.ev is an electrified version of the conventional Harrier, which has received all-wheel drive and a range of up to 627 km according to the MIDC standard. The car’s design remains very similar to the gasoline version but with some elements characteristic of electric vehicles: a closed-off grille, updated bumpers, new 19-inch wheels, and special emblems.

Technology and Equipment

The Harrier.ev’s interior has received a 14.5-inch Samsung Neo QLED display, a 540-degree camera system, a 10-speaker JBL audio system, a panoramic sunroof, and a digital rearview mirror. The car is also equipped with a Level 2 ADAS system and the TiDAL platform, which provides connected features and over-the-air updates.

The Harrier.ev is offered in three trim levels: Adventure, Fearless, and Empowered, as well as in a special dark Stealth version.

Platform and Specifications

The electric version is built on the new Acti.ev Plus platform, which replaced the Omega Arc in the conventional model. It has received an updated “Ultra Glide” suspension with frequency-dependent dampers. The dual-motor all-wheel-drive version develops a combined 391 hp (504 Nm of torque) and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.3 seconds.

Two batteries are available – 65 kWh and 75 kWh. The larger one provides a range of up to 627 km according to the MIDC standard (the real-world figure is around 480-505 km). Fast charging at 120 kW allows the battery to be charged from 20% to 80% in 25 minutes.

The price of the electric Harrier.ev starts from ₹21.49 lakh (approximately $25,100), which is significantly higher than the gasoline version starting from ₹14.99 lakh (~$17,500). However, for the segment of electric SUVs with similar characteristics, the price seems competitive, especially considering the level of equipment and performance. The Indian market is actively developing its electric direction, and Tata is trying to establish itself in this segment, taking into account local specifics and the price expectations of buyers.
