A set of Russian warship stamps and envelopes with autographs sold at the price of a Maybach

5 million hryvnias – this is the final amount for which the postal stamps “Russian warship, go…!” and envelopes with special cancellation with the signatures of the author of the phrase Roman Gribov and the general director of Ukrposhta Igor Smelyansky went under the hammer on ProZorro.

This amount is comparable to the cost of a new luxury SUV Maybach GLS! As TopGeek writes, the price during the auction rose 200 times, as the starting price was 25,000 UAH. At the auction, 56 participants from different countries competed for the stamps. All the money from the sale of these stamps must be sent by the winner to the accounts of the National Bank of Ukraine for humanitarian aid, after which they will be able to receive the lot.

Let us recall, on April 13, Ukrposhta released the postal stamp “Russian warship, go…!” for sale. Five days later, the post office sold 500,000 copies — half of the entire edition. On the eBay platform, announcements began to appear about the sale of stamps with the Russian warship. Some sellers set the price at $1000, $1500, and above for a sheet of 6 stamps. Meanwhile, Ukrposhta itself sells the stamps for 23 or 48 UAH per piece, a small sheet of 6 stamps is sold for 138 UAH, and a large one for 288 UAH.

It is worth noting that today Ukrposhta launched an updated online store, but only the lucky ones were able to purchase stamps through it, as the site “hung” most of the time and even those who reached the point of payment were unable to complete the transaction. And although the company “Ukrposhta” speaks of Ddos attacks, most likely the reason is different – the state enterprise simply did not have time or could not prepare for the platform launch and cope with the (expected) influx of customers.
