Unique 1955 Cadillac Elegante Concept Car Auctioned
Cadillac has created many impressive concept cars over its history, from the Cien supercar to the Ciel, the 1988 Voyage, and the 2003 Sixteen. However, one of the most extravagant appeared back in 1955, long before all those listed, and it is now awaiting a new owner at auction.
This concept car is called the Elegante. Its story began with a 1953 Cadillac Series 62 convertible that fell into the hands of Harry Birdsall and Joe Mascari from New York. They sent the car to the Carrozzeria Rocco Motto workshop to create a unique body that cannot be confused with any other car of that era. The finished vehicle debuted at the 1955 New York International Auto Show and even received mention in The New York Times.
