In Switzerland, the collection of cars belonging to Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo – the former vice-president and son of the president of Equatorial Guinea – was sold at auction. A total of 25 supercars fetched $27 million.
The cars were seized in a money laundering case along with a mansion in Paris. Obiang himself received a three-year suspended sentence and a $20 million fine.

The most expensive in the collection was the 2014 Lamborghini Veneno Roadster: it went under the hammer for $8.3 million.
There are only nine such cars in the world. Also sold at the auction were a 1360-horsepower Koenigsegg One:1 ($4.6 million), Ferrari LaFerrari ($2.2 million), limited edition Bugatti Veyron Atlantic ($1.3 million), McLaren P1 ($1.2 million), Aston Martin One-77, and Ferrari Enzo.

The majority of the proceeds ($27 million) will go to the government of Equatorial Guinea. The funds will be directed towards social projects.
