Škoda’s New Flagship Electric Vehicle
Škoda is bringing its largest electric SUV closer to series production. The future flagship, which will be a response to the Kia EV9 and Hyundai Ioniq 9, was spotted during intensive testing at the Nürburgring before its debut in 2026, providing the clearest view yet of the brand’s future family car.
Design and Camouflage
Despite the heavy camouflage, many details can be discerned: from the massive proportions to the signature Tech-Deck front end. Two small rectangles cut into the camouflage film give the car a certain resemblance to BMW products. This is not the first time Škoda has borrowed ideas from the Munich manufacturer: the front end of the previous generation Octavia also had a noticeable similarity to the characteristic BMW grille.
Signature Style and Lighting
According to official teasers and recent debuts, including the compact Epiq, the final version of the grille will be a sleek strip of black plastic with transverse LED segments. This is part of Škoda’s new “Modern Solid” design language introduced in the Vision 7S concept. The characteristic T-shaped LED lights at the front and rear, along with flush door handles, will make it easy to distinguish the electric seven-seat SUV from the more conservative gasoline-powered Kodiaq.
Technical Specifications
The car is built on the Volkswagen Group’s updated MEB platform, which is also used in the ID.Buzz, ID.4, and ID.7. The 7S concept was equipped with an 89 kWh battery and offered a range of over 600 km according to the WLTP standard; these figures are expected to be retained in the production version. Buyers will be offered rear-wheel and all-wheel drive options, with the latter having a power output of around 340 hp, making its performance comparable to the Enyaq vRS.
Market Prospects
The emergence of such a car demonstrates the growing competition in the segment of large family electric vehicles, where Škoda aims to establish itself alongside Korean manufacturers. The use of the proven MEB platform allows the brand to enter the market faster, offering technologically reliable solutions. Given the global trend towards electrification, this model could become key for Škoda in the coming years, especially in the European market where demand for spacious family cars with zero emissions continues to grow.
