The German publication Autobild has identified the most fuel-guzzling crossovers and SUVs of today. This means that the ranking of cars includes both models that are no longer in production and the latest SUV class novelties.
The research was conducted in the following way: journalists drove 155 km, of which 61 km were on the highway, 40 km were in the city, and 54 km were in a mixed cycle. The speed was the maximum for specific road sections, meaning in compliance with traffic rules. As a result, the picture turned out as follows.
The Most Fuel-Guzzling SUV Class Cars
10) Porsche Cayenne Turbo S Tiptronic 2010. Average consumption – 14.2 L per 100 km
9) Porsche Cayenne Turbo Tiptronic S 2018. Average consumption – 14.5 L per 100 km
8) Mercedes ML 63 AMG 4Matic. Average consumption – 14.5 L per 100 km
7) BMW X5 M. Average consumption – 15 L/100 km
6) Porsche Cayenne Turbo Tiptronic S 2015.
Average consumption – 15.5 L/100 km
5) BMW X5 M 2010. Average consumption – 15.5 L/100 km
4) Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8. Average consumption – 15.6 L/100 km
3) Mercedes-Benz GLS 500 4Matic. Average consumption – 15.8 liters per 100 km
2) Bentley Bentayga W12. Average consumption – 15.9 L per 100 km
1) Mercedes-AMG G 63 2018.
Average consumption – 17.4 liters per 100 km
Everything is clear and logical, but in fairness, if we talk about the passport data and the SUVs that are not in the German Autobild list, then the most fuel-guzzling can be considered the Mercedes-Benz G900 (not less than 20 L per 100 km!), the six-wheeled G-Class consumes 18 liters, and the British mastodon Rolls-Royce Cullinan consumes an average of 21-22 liters in the city, although 15 L is declared on the highway.
