A Tiny Detail Caused a Massive Ford Vehicle Recall This Year, But There’s No Fix Yet

Ford Recalls 850,000 Vehicles Due to Fuel Pump Problem

Ford Motor Company has announced a recall of 850,000 vehicles due to a potential malfunction of low-pressure fuel pumps. The issue affects 11 Ford and Lincoln models manufactured between 2021 and 2023. These include the Bronco, Expedition, Explorer, Mustang, and F-series pickups.

This is not Ford’s first recall in 2024. In the first six months, the company initiated more campaigns than in the entire previous year. The fuel pump problem has turned out to be large-scale: according to NHTSA, owners of models such as the Lincoln Navigator, Aviator, Ford Expedition, F-150, Bronco, Explorer, and Super Duty will receive notifications about the need for repair.

Problem Details

Ford began an investigation back in 2022 after an increase in warranty claims. Initially, the company suspended the investigation, but due to complaints from Bronco owners about power loss due to fuel pump failures, the research was resumed. It was discovered that one of the suppliers had provided pumps that did not meet technical specifications and were prone to vapor lock.

To date, Ford has received 1,860 warranty claims; however, repairs will be performed on all 850,000 potentially problematic vehicles. The company has not yet announced exact timelines and methods for fixing the malfunction, but if a car runs stably in hot weather, it will likely hold up until the official repair.

This situation highlights the importance of component quality in modern automotive manufacturing. Even one non-compliant component can lead to large-scale consequences, especially when it comes to critical systems like the fuel system. Drivers should monitor updates from the manufacturer to receive the necessary repairs in a timely manner.
