The third generation Buick Riviera debuted in 1971 and was produced until 1973. The model received a unique body with a pointed rear, inspired by boat shapes, making it one of the most recognizable American cars of the early 1970s.
The car is built on the rear-wheel-drive General Motors E-body platform. The coupe’s length exceeded 5.7 m, and the wheelbase was 3089 mm.
Standard equipment included an automatic transmission, power steering, front disc brakes, and air conditioning, which was considered premium equipment for its time.

Under the hood, the model was fitted with Buick Big Block series engines. The most powerful version was equipped with a 7.5-liter V8 (455 cubic inches), which was characterized by high torque at low revs.
Despite its sporty appearance, the Riviera was positioned as a luxurious grand tourer for long journeys. The car’s interior featured four full seats, rich trim, and a characteristic dashboard with aviation-style elements.
Today, the third-generation Buick Riviera belongs to the most collectible American coupes of the 1970s, and well-preserved examples rarely appear at public events in Ukraine.
