Chinese automaker BYD, which is growing rapidly in the global market, has unveiled an unusual prototype of the future Denza Z electric coupe. Although the company is known for its innovations, this test sample looks more like an experiment than a serious development.

Unconventional Prototype Design
The biggest surprise is the external appearance of the prototype – significant parts of the body are covered in polyurethane foam. This creates the impression that the car was assembled in a garage, not at the facilities of a major automaker. However, beneath this unusual shell lies promising technology.
According to Autohome, the production Denza Z will receive an electric powertrain with an output of about 536 hp, which will allow it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just over 3 seconds.
Although details of the powertrain have not yet been disclosed, it is expected to use BYD’s technologies. The model will feature a front double-wishbone suspension and adaptive dampers, promising good handling.
The interior will likely be similar to the concept, although the complex retractable steering wheel might not make it to the production version due to regulatory restrictions. The final body design will most likely be close to the show concept, which is good news for fans of the brand.
Despite the prototype’s unusual appearance, the Denza Z could become a serious player in the electric vehicle segment. BYD continues to demonstrate ambition in developing new models, although some decisions raise questions. The manufacturer seems to be trying to combine bold design solutions with high performance, making the wait for the production version particularly interesting.
