Lamborghini Announces Unpleasant News for Electric Vehicle Fans

Lamborghini Changes Electrification Plans

Lamborghini had long announced a transition to electric powertrains, but it has now emerged that buyers of premium cars are not ready for such changes. This was confirmed by the company’s CEO, Stephan Winkelmann, announcing the delay of the electric version of the Urus.

“We want to launch the new generation as a plug-in hybrid. This is very important for us and for the customers”

The second generation Urus with a hybrid setup is expected around 2029. In parallel, the company continues work on new modifications of the current model, including its hybrid version.

The Future of Lamborghini’s Electric Models

The electric Urus may not appear until 2035, but exact timelines have not yet been determined. The company plans to monitor the development of infrastructure and changes in legislation before making a final decision.

A similar situation applies to the Lanzador electric crossover, whose presentation has already been postponed from 2028 to 2029. This model, presented in 2023, was supposed to become the brand’s fourth serial model with a fully electric powertrain and an eco-friendly interior.

Lamborghini’s recent decisions indicate a shift in the brand’s strategy in response to market needs. Unlike many manufacturers actively transitioning to electric vehicles, the Italian manufacturer is choosing a more cautious approach, focusing on the preferences of its customers. This could become a significant advantage in the fight for buyers in the premium segment.
