Lamborghini presented a new version of the iconic Countach model en

Lamborghini Countach – an iconic automotive legend of the ’70s and ’80s, and yesterday the Italian brand presented its reincarnation. The wedge-shaped silhouette, rectangular nose, characteristic outlines of the windshield, wheel arches, optics, and the “gills” of air intakes— the reincarnated Lamborghini Countach LPI 800-4 coupe is recognizable as the historic prototype of the iconic model.

The successor, presented at The Quail: A Motorsports Gathering event in the USA, will be released in a limited edition of just 112 units. The number was chosen because of the factory designation of the first Countach coupe project (LP 112). Deliveries will begin in the first quarter of 2022.

The full name of the modern model is Lamborghini Countach LPI 800-4. The four indicates all-wheel drive (based on the Haldex IV clutch), and 800 is the rounded horsepower figure. In actuality, it has 814 horsepower. Of them, 780 hp (720 Nm) come from the naturally aspirated V12 6.5 engine, and 25 kW (34 hp, 35 Nm) from a 48-volt electric motor integrated into the seven-speed ISR “robot.” It can be noted that the hybrid powertrain of the successor mirrors the internals of the limited-edition hypercar Lamborghini Sian.

As in the Sian, in the new Countach coupe, the electric motor receives energy from supercapacitors. Compared to lithium-ion cells, they have a low capacity per unit of their own mass, but very impressive specific power (2.4 kW/kg). In the Countach, the electric motor, along with the supercapacitors, weighs only 34 kg. The dry weight of the coupe is 1595 kg, which is relatively low for a hybrid (for comparison, the Aventador SVJ weighs 1525 kg). The static weight distribution across the axles: 43% front and 57% rear. Lamborghini Countach LPI 800-4 accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.8 seconds and reaches 200 km/h in 8.6 seconds. Its top speed is 355 km/h.

Buying such a car will not be easy, considering the limited edition and cost. After all, the price of the novelty is 2 million euros (according to the British magazine Autocar). Also, according to unofficial data, as reported by Drive, the overwhelming majority of the cars (planned for production) have already been sold.

By the way, it should be noted that there is a Lamborghini Countach in Ukraine, although it is not an original, but a replica.
