Lamborghini to release a retro supercar from 50 years ago

Lamborghini presented a new generation of the iconic Countach supercar at Monterey Car Week in 2021. Critics then reacted ambiguously. In their opinion, Lamborghini Countach LPI 800-4 does not align with the style of retro revival and the 1980s pop culture phenomenon.

The Italian automaker is prepared to offer something else, reviving this time the early Countach in the form of a prototype. The car was created 50 years ago, distinguished by a crazy disco-style seat design and loud exhaust.

The manufacturer does not reveal all the secrets, presenting only teasers, from which many guesses can be made. However, the black leather seat shown in the video strongly resembles the seat design used in the LP500 prototype and early Countach models.

The very same 1971 Countach prototype

Let us recall, the revived Lambo in its new form was presented in August, only 112 units of the Countach will be released, but they are all already sold. As for the retro model, its predecessor debuted exactly half a century ago at the Geneva Motor Show, then it was crashed at the MIRA English proving ground during certification tests and disposed of.

Now Lamborghini hints at the return of the very first Countach with the words “50 years ago it paved the road to the future, now it’s back on the road”.
