In the USA, a rusty 1971 Plymouth Barracuda convertible was put up for auction at Mecum. Although the muscle car is far from being in the best condition, it is expected to fetch between 500 to 700 thousand dollars.
The car stood unwanted in an old container for 35 years. Therefore, its paint has peeled off and rust is showing through.
However, the mileage on the Plymouth Cuda is small, and the version is very rare – only 17 Cuda 440 Six Pack convertibles with a 7.2-liter V8 engine producing 385 hp were produced in 1971.
The car is not slow even by today’s standards. It accelerates to 100 km/h in 6.2 seconds and exceeds 200 km/h, completing a quarter-mile run in 13.7 seconds.
In general, the high-performance versions of the Plymouth Cuda of 1970-71 are very expensive as they were produced in small numbers. The top 425-horsepower Hemi Cuda in good condition can fetch up to a million dollars.
By the way, one such car exists in Ukraine.
