Legendary NHL Hockey Player Kept His Supercar in Perfect Condition

Wayne Gretzky’s Legendary Ford GT is Up for Auction

Wayne Gretzky, considered the greatest player in NHL history, owned a special example of the Ford GT in the Heritage Edition. This model, released in a limited series of 343 units, is now up for auction. The car is painted in the iconic Gulf colors—blue and orange—reminiscent of the Edmonton Oilers, the team Gretzky played for.

This Ford GT, numbered 195, has been preserved in perfect condition with no modifications. The body features white round emblems with the number 99—Gretzky’s jersey number. The interior with Ebony-colored leather seats also shows no signs of wear, making this car a true “time capsule.”

Technical Features and Auction Price

The car is equipped with a 5.4-liter supercharged V8 engine producing 550 horsepower, paired with a 6-speed manual transmission. This combination makes it one of the most iconic supercars of the mid-2000s.

In 2022, a similar Ford GT Heritage Edition with 2,200 miles sold for $703,500. The starting price for Gretzky’s car is already approaching this mark.

It will be interesting to see whether the fact that it was owned by a hockey legend will influence the final sale price. Collectors have a unique opportunity to acquire not just a rare car but a true piece of history connected to one of the greatest athletes in the world. The sale is being conducted through the auction house Bring a Trailer, where active bids have already been recorded.
