Lexus LS Transformed into a Strange Six-Wheeled Van

New Lexus Concepts at the Japan Mobility Show

Lexus brought a number of interesting concept cars to the Japan Mobility Show in Tokyo, among which the most impressive is the LS Concept. This is a strange six-wheeled ultra-luxury van that was recently announced and could become the basis for a production model. Next to it, two more concepts under the LS brand are presented: the LS Coupe Concept and the LS Micro Concept.

The Future of the LS Model

The current LS model is approaching the end of its life cycle, and Lexus is clearly looking for ways to continue the existence of this brand. The LS Concept imagines how this model could look in the form of a huge van, so large that it requires two axles and four wheels at the rear.

Design and Features of the LS Concept

The design of the concept is, to put it mildly, radical. The front is adorned with angular LEDs, with similar solutions used at the rear. Between them is an elongated body that somewhat resembles the crazy Tesla Robovan concept. Although the exact dimensions are not disclosed, it is obvious that this model is significantly larger than any other modern Lexus. It is also interesting that the four rear wheels are significantly smaller than the front ones.

We did not find an explanation for why Lexus decided to equip the concept with six wheels, but it is obvious that much effort was invested in ensuring maximum comfort. The front part features two futuristic seats, two digital instrument panels, and a yoke-shaped steering wheel. Behind them are two additional rows of seats, with the rear ones resembling business-class seats on international flights. Thanks to the louvered side windows, the interior has a very cozy atmosphere.

LS Coupe Concept: Elegance and Innovation

The LS Coupe Concept is executed in the form of an incredibly elegant crossover with an emphasis on luxury. It is a four-door model, but with a feature: as in a Rolls-Royce, the rear doors open against the direction of travel, and there is also an interesting rear door that opens and slides out, revealing the wooden trim of the luggage compartment.

The interior is full of technological solutions. As in the six-wheeled LS Concept, there is a yoke-shaped steering wheel, two digital instrument panels, and a large display on the passenger side. Behind the two front seats are large vertical screens for rear passengers. The interior also features many wooden elements, emphasizing the Japanese style.

LS Micro Concept: Urban Transport of the Future

The trio of concepts is completed by the LS Micro Concept. This model probably has the least chance of production and is designed as a single-seater self-propelled vehicle, ideal for dense urban conditions.

Lexus notes that the interior opens like a jewelry box, revealing one seat and, as in the other concepts, many wooden details. It might seem a bit claustrophobic, but undoubtedly unique.

These concepts demonstrate how Lexus sees the future of luxury transport, combining innovation with traditional materials. The six-wheeled van, the elegant crossover, and the compact urban transport each reflect different aspects of the automotive industry’s development, where comfort, technology, and environmental friendliness are becoming key priorities. Such experiments can influence not only future Lexus models but also general trends in design and functionality in the automotive industry.
