by US Government Supports the Development of Flying Cars
US President Donald Trump has signed an executive order aimed at supporting innovation in aviation, particularly flying cars, drones, and supersonic aircraft. The government plans to participate in five pilot projects related to electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft (eVTOL). This will help identify regulatory needs and prepare the national airspace for the integration of new technologies.
The White House stated that the flying car testing program will focus on areas such as air taxis, cargo transportation, defense logistics, and emergency medical assistance. The order provides for the acceleration of eVTOL implementation in the USA. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) will select at least five projects that meet the criteria, including the use of American technologies and representation from various industries.
“Decades of regulatory barriers have hindered the development of drones, flying cars, and supersonic aircraft in the USA. These executive orders will give innovators the opportunity to test, develop, and commercialize advanced technologies that will transform aviation,” said Michael Kratsios, Director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy.
Although specific details are not yet known, the order provides for the signing of agreements with selected companies, defining project goals, regulatory needs, and data sharing. It is also planned to develop recommendations for the permanent integration of eVTOL into the national airspace.
Flying cars remain a technology of the future, but the USA is taking steps to become a leader in this field. The implementation of new rules could promote economic growth and ensure national security. However, the question of when these projects will become a reality remains open.
