Kyiv suffered from a heavy downpour — within just half an hour, the capital received a week’s worth of rainfall. Numerous city streets ended up flooded.
In some places, the water level reached half a meter, and the roads of Kyiv were blocked. Particularly affected was the transport interchange at Dorogozhychi, where a real lake formed.
Moreover, the downpour in Kyiv even flooded the metro. For instance, the Akademhorodok station stopped operating temporarily due to water ingress in the ticket hall. Beresteiska was closed off with iron doors with hermetic seals.
Currently, the flooding in Kyiv is being addressed by 12 crews of hydro services and 38 crews of Kyivavtodor for manual cleaning — a total of 326 workers. However, heavy rains are also forecasted in the coming days.
Of course, the rain in Kyiv was very heavy, but compared to Europe, everything is still quite adequate here. There, people are being massively evacuated from flooded areas, and cars in dealerships are floating.
