Lviv customs officers detained a sports Lamborghini at the border (photo)

Customs officers stopped an attempt to illegally import an elite 2013 Lamborghini Gallardo into Ukraine. The car, worth over 2.7 million hryvnias, was attempted to be brought across the border using contradictory documents with different versions of the seller, recipient, and country of origin.

According to the declaration, the seller was an American company, and the recipient was a 44-year-old resident of Kyiv. However, the driver suddenly provided a completely different set of documents: a Lithuanian customs declaration and a waybill, which listed an entirely different seller—a company from Lithuania—and a Ukrainian enterprise as the recipient.

The price of the car in these papers was $66,005, which at the NBU exchange rate is over 2.7 million hryvnias. Such discrepancies in the versions raised legitimate suspicions. According to customs officials, the Ukrainian citizen provided false information about the sender and recipient of the car, which is classified as concealment from customs control.

Though, to be honest, the car has significant damage and clearly cannot be worth $66,000. But, as you know, sometimes it’s easier to bang your head against a wall than to explain that a similar intact Lambo, already cleared through customs, can be bought in Ukraine for $100,000 at most.

The result—an administrative report under Article 483 of the Customs Code of Ukraine. Additionally, the materials have been transferred to the Lviv Bureau of Economic Security, as the actions contain signs of a criminal offense under Article 201-4 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

Recall that yesterday in Kyiv, a similar Lamborghini was spotted being towed by an old Volga.
