Hyundai Ioniq 5 N Prepares for Pikes Peak Race
Hyundai, together with Evasive Motorsports, has introduced a specially prepared Ioniq 5 N to participate in the legendary Pikes Peak race. The car, which will be driven by pilot Rob Walker, has undergone serious modifications, including shedding 227 kg of weight through the use of carbon parts.
Key changes include carbon doors, a trunk lid, and other body elements. The Japanese company Voltex developed an aerodynamic body kit for this project, which includes a splitter, extended wings, and a spoiler. The car has also received a sports suspension, alloy wheels, and special brakes.
Technical Features
The electric vehicle retains the standard powertrain with two motors producing 641 hp, allowing it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.25 seconds. The Evasive Motorsports team aims to complete the Pikes Peak course in less than 10 minutes, which would be a significant achievement for an electric car.
We have been close to this mark in the past, but with the Ioniq 5 N it looks much more realistic
The Pikes Peak race will take place on June 22, and this project will be one of the most ambitious for Evasive Motorsports. The use of carbon materials and special racing technologies could give the car an advantage on the challenging track with its numerous turns and changes in elevation.
