Only Two ICE Cars Have Beaten This Lamborghini’s Acceleration Time in Motor Trend Tests

Official Acceleration Figures for the Lamborghini Temerario

The new Lamborghini Temerario, which has taken the place of the Gallardo and Huracan models, demonstrates results that compete with much more expensive supercars and even encroach on hypercar territory. Despite abandoning the naturally aspirated V10, the Italian manufacturer has not lowered the speed benchmark.

Motor Trend journalists conducted tests on the car, confirming its impressive performance. The Temerario is equipped with a hybrid powertrain: a twin-turbo V8 and three electric motors produce a combined output of 907 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque. It features all-wheel drive and an eight-speed robotic transmission.

Unbeatable Acceleration

The car launches like a rocket. The 2.2-second time to 60 mph makes the Temerario the third fastest among ICE-powered cars ever tested by Motor Trend magazine. Only the Ferrari SF90 Stradale Assetto Fiorano and the latest version of the Porsche 911 Turbo S were faster.

This thing launches like a rocket.

However, by the 100 mph mark, the Lamborghini proves to be faster than both competitors, reaching it in 4.6 seconds. Its advantage is maintained over the quarter-mile distance: 9.58 seconds with a trap speed of 148.5 mph. This is 0.03 seconds faster than the Ferrari SF90 Stradale, which until recently was considered the king of supercars. Thus, the Temerario has become the fastest ICE-powered car on this distance in Motor Trend’s test history.

Great Weight, Great Achievements

It is impressive that the Temerario demonstrates such insane acceleration while having significant mass. The specimen tested by Motor Trend weighed 4,185 lbs (1,898 kg) with fluids. This is considerably more than the weight of the SF90 Stradale, which under similar conditions weighed 3,839 lbs (1,741 kg).

The substantial weight affected braking. Stopping from 60 mph required 96 feet, and from 100 mph required 266 feet. These figures placed it in a tie for 12th place in the publication’s braking ranking.

Regarding handling, the new Lamborghini completed the figure-eight course in 22.3 seconds. This result is 0.7 seconds slower than the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1, Porsche 911 GT3 Touring, and McLaren 765LT Spider. However, it is identical to the times of the Porsche 918 Spyder, Lucid Air Sapphire, Lamborghini Huracan Evo AWD, and Huracan STO.

The arrival of the Temerario clearly outlines a new trend in the world of supercars, where a key role is played not only by power but also by complex hybrid technologies that compensate for increased mass. This car doesn’t just replace the Huracan—it raises the bar for the entire category, blurring the lines between supercars and hypercars at a more accessible price. Its results indicate that the future of speed increasingly depends on a successful symbiosis of traditional internal combustion engines and electric systems.
