In the world of limited-series supercars, there is always something even more exclusive. While the SV version of the Murcielago is often considered the rarest, this title actually belongs to another modification.
Even more unique is the version called the Murcielago LP650-4 Roadster, and one such rare example in the USA recently appeared for sale. It is generating significant interest and will likely be sold for a substantial sum.
Lamborghini introduced the LP650-4 Roadster in 2009. As the name implies, this model has 10 hp more than the standard LP640 – 650 hp and 487 lb-ft (660 Nm) from the 6.5-liter naturally aspirated V12. However, the distinguishing feature of this car was not the more powerful engine, but the unique combination of gray and orange colors.
Timeless Design
Most of the LP650-4’s body is painted in Grigio Telesto, but it also features bright orange accents on the front bumper, sills, doors, brake calipers, side air intakes, and rear bumper. The interior features orange contrast stitching, upholstery, and orange paddle shifters.
Lamborghini initially planned to produce 50 examples of the LP650-4 Roadster, but according to Ed Bolian, only 31 cars were built. This supercar, number 9, is considered one of the seven intended for the US market. According to the seller, the car has been owned by a retired pharmacist since purchase and stored in a climate-controlled garage. It has only driven 2,000 miles (~3,200 km) and is likely the best-preserved example.
The only thing that could make this model even more attractive would be the presence of a manual transmission with an aluminum shifter. However, the LP650-4 was equipped only with a six-speed robotic e-gear transmission with the same orange paddle shifters.
At the time of writing, the bid on this car had already reached $402,000, with three days remaining until the auction’s end. If you’re feeling bold and financially prepared, you can check out the lot.
