Lucid Introduces Concept of an Off-Road Version of the Gravity
Lucid has introduced a conceptual version of its Gravity electric crossover, adapted for off-road conditions. The model, named Gravity X, was showcased at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance and received a number of modifications to enhance its off-road capability.
Key updates include an elevated suspension, off-road tires, additional LED lights, and an integrated roof rack. The design has also been reworked: protective plastic cladding, tow hooks, and a special body coating have been added.
Technical Features
Under the hood remains the same powertrain – two electric motors with a combined output of 828 hp and a 123 kWh battery. However, due to the increased ground clearance and less aerodynamic tires, real-world figures may differ from the claimed 450 miles of range.
“The Lucid Gravity X expands the capabilities of the base model, allowing drivers to venture further off the beaten path,” stated Derek Jenkins, Vice President of Design at Lucid.
The interior retains its premium finish but has gained more durable floor mats, leather seats with orange accents, and wood trim. The manufacturer emphasized that the concept demonstrates the flexibility of the Gravity platform.
It is not yet known if Lucid will begin series production of this modification. However, the relatively minor changes to the base construction make such a move quite likely, especially considering the success of competitors like the Rivian R1S. The Gravity X concept can already be seen at the exhibition in California, where it is attracting the attention of electric vehicle enthusiasts and outdoor recreation fans.
This presentation highlights the growing demand for electric vehicles capable of combining the comfort of an urban crossover with the capabilities for light off-roading. Lucid, traditionally focused on luxury and technology, is now experimenting with more versatile solutions, which could significantly expand its audience.
