Lucid Gravity Sales: What’s Wrong with the New SUV?
According to S&P Global Mobility, only nine Lucid Gravity electric vehicles were registered in the first half of 2025, while the Air sedan sold almost 4800 copies. These figures caused surprise, considering that SUV models are usually in higher demand than classic sedans.
Lucid disputes these figures, stating that actual Gravity sales amount to “hundreds of units.” The company explains the discrepancy by the fact that a significant amount of time can pass between the moment of sale and the registration of the car. SUV production began in December 2024, but the first batches were directed to demo models for dealers. Customer deliveries only started in the spring, with production rates turning out to be lower than expected.
“The Gravity is excelling at its task,” experts note, praising its speed, range, and cargo space.
Model Prospects
Currently, the Gravity is only available in the top trim with 840 hp and a range of 450 miles. However, Lucid plans to expand the range of modifications, which should ensure sales growth. The company has also lowered its production forecast for 2025, which may affect further dynamics.
Despite current difficulties, Lucid expects that over time the Gravity will become the main driver of sales, pushing the Air sedan into the background. The success of this strategy will depend on the pace of production ramp-up and the market’s reaction to new trim options.
