Buick’s Future May Bring an Affordable Electric Crossover

Buick Plans an Electric Crossover and Model Line Updates

Buick continues to demonstrate sales growth: in the second quarter, they increased by 19.3%, and by the end of the year, the brand grew by 29.2%. This was made possible by a successful 2024, when 183,421 cars were sold in the USA. Demand is supported by new and updated models, including an affordable crossover that starts at $24,600.

However, according to new data, Buick does not plan any radical new releases in the coming years. Nevertheless, by 2029, a compact electric crossover may appear. It might be produced at the same plant as the Chevrolet Bolt, and batteries are expected to come from the Ultium Cells plant in Tennessee starting in 2027.

Expected Updates and Uncertainty Regarding the Envision

The brand’s plans include a facelift for existing models. The Enclave may be updated by 2028, and the Envista will undergo serious changes or even a full new generation. The most popular Encore GX will likely get a complete design change by 2029.

The Envision remains the biggest uncertainty for Buick. Due to high import tariffs from China (45%), its future in the American market is in question.

Despite this, a model update is possible as early as 2026. Overall, Buick is focusing on affordable electric solutions and maintaining the relevance of its crossover lineup, which allows it to maintain high sales momentum. However, import restrictions could introduce adjustments to the brand’s strategy.
