Jeep Avenger receives an update: LED grille and new design
Jeep is preparing a planned update for its smallest SUV in Europe. The facelifted version of the Avenger appeared in a short teaser, allowing a first look at a new interpretation of the brand’s signature seven-slot grille.
Jeep calls the updated grille a breakthrough, although it looks very similar to the one already used on the newer Compass. The slots retain the Avenger’s tapered profile but now feature thinner dividers and lack visible frames. This makes the design cleaner without straying far from the original idea.
LED lighting and other exterior changes
The main feature is the addition of seven LEDs that echo the Compass’s design. They extend the Avenger’s thin daytime running lights located above the main headlight units. The first Jeep with an illuminated grille was the 2022 Grand Wagoneer concept.
Besides the updated grille, the Avenger will likely receive revised front and rear bumpers, new body colors, and fresh designs for the alloy wheels. Roof rails shown in the teaser point towards a special Avenger 4xe The North Face version, although they may also appear in other trims of the updated lineup.
Interior and technical specifications
Jeep is saying little about interior changes so far. However, camouflaged instrument panels on test prototypes hint at a possible update to the digital cluster. An improvement in material quality is also expected, notably replacing hard plastics with softer options.
No major changes are expected under the hood. The Avenger is already available with petrol, mild-hybrid, and fully electric powertrains from the Stellantis arsenal. The top version remains the all-wheel-drive variant (4xe mild hybrid) with two electric motors and a turbocharged 1.2-liter petrol engine.
Expansion of sales geography
The Avenger is also planned for production outside of Europe. A launch in South America is planned. Production will begin later this year at the Porto Real plant in Brazil.
It is not yet known whether the Brazilian version will get the same visual updates as the European one, which is produced in Tychy, Poland. It is expected that a special powertrain adapted to local requirements will be offered for this region.
The Avenger update looks like a logical step to maintain interest in the model, which appeared on the market only three years ago. The illuminated grille, while not revolutionary, adds a modern touch and visually brings the small crossover closer to the brand’s older models. The expansion of production to South America testifies to Jeep’s global ambitions for this model, which has already proven itself well in Europe. The retention of the existing engine lineup, including the electric version, makes the Avenger a versatile choice for different markets.
