Elon Musk Concludes His Government Work
Today is Elon Musk’s last day as a special government employee, stripping him of his unofficial status as the leader of DOGE. Although he is leaving the Trump administration, his problems are far from over.
The Tesla Takedown movement claims that “the fight is far from over” as Musk continues to have direct access to the president and “fuels conspiracy theories and fascist rhetoric.” The group added: “Musk must go.”
As my term as a special government employee concludes, I want to thank the president for the opportunity to reduce wasteful spending. The mission will only intensify over time, becoming a way of life in government.
Protests and Declining Tesla Sales
Activists are planning protests near Tesla dealerships and charging stations on May 31. They are also preparing a large-scale demonstration on Musk’s birthday, June 28.
Protest organizer Lara Starr stated: “Tesla is inextricably linked to Musk, and Musk is tied to Trump and the unethical actions of his administration. We can express our disgust through actions near Tesla showrooms.”
However, protests are not the only problem Musk faces. Tesla sales in Europe dropped by 52.6% in April, despite the overall rise in electric vehicle popularity. The situation is even worse in Canada—sales in Quebec fell by 85%, while Model 3 sales plummeted by 94%.
Interestingly, Tesla’s sales decline is occurring against the backdrop of overall growth in the electric vehicle market. Many experts attribute this not only to economic factors but also to Musk’s political stance, which is alienating some customers. Notably, other electric vehicle manufacturers continue to expand their market share, while Tesla is losing ground.
