Announcing a New Level of Luxury
Mercedes recently introduced the VLE model, and now it’s the turn for the luxurious VLS. The company has gone even further and confirmed that the top version of the van will receive a variant from the Maybach sub-brand.
Details are scarce for now, but the manufacturer hints that the model will elevate their “grand limousine vans” into the realm of refined luxury. It’s about combining timeless elegance with a first-class interior, a new level of digital sophistication, and an exceptional experience for rear-seat passengers.
Interior as a Private Lounge
The company hinted at an “extraordinary private lounge” with luxurious materials, impeccable craftsmanship, and exquisite design details. While information is still limited, the VLE model already offers private jet-style seats with a footrest, cushion, and a built-in wireless phone charger.
These exquisite seats will likely be complemented by a center console, a refrigerator compartment, and a high-tech entertainment system. Taking cues from the Vision V concept, the model could receive a 65-inch display and a premium audio system with 42 speakers. Wooden inlays, metal accents, and premium leather can also be expected.
Technical Features and Dimensions
Little is known about the model so far, but the VLS is likely to be larger than the VLE. If so, it’s no longer a “minivan” at all, as the VLE is 209 inches long, 78.7 inches wide, and 76.5 inches tall with a wheelbase of 131.6 inches. An even larger VLE version with a 138.5-inch wheelbase and an overall length of 215.9 inches is also in the works.
Powertrain details remain a secret, but they may mirror the top VLE versions. This suggests the VLS could get a battery with a capacity of approximately 115 kWh, as well as an all-wheel-drive system with two motors producing a combined 409 horsepower.
800-volt technology and the capability for DC fast charging at over 300 kW can also be expected. Other possible features include the AirMatic air suspension and a rear-axle steering system.
The emergence of the Maybach VLS clearly demonstrates Mercedes-Benz’s strategy to expand its presence in the ultra-luxury car segment into new, non-traditional body types for the brand. This is not just a minivan, but a true mobile headquarters or private lounge on wheels, created for clients who value space, technology, and maximum comfort above all else. Competition from other exclusive car manufacturers in this niche segment is currently absent, which opens up a unique opportunity for Maybach to shape the market independently. The success of this model may determine whether similar offerings from other luxury brands appear in the future.
