Possible Design Changes for the Toyota Aqua
In the near future, the Toyota Aqua hatchback could receive an updated design inspired by the brand’s signature “hammerhead” style, which is already used in many of its models. The current generation Aqua debuted in 2022, with a facelift expected in 2025.
Details About the Aqua Model
The Aqua is a compact hatchback built on the Yaris platform, operating exclusively on a hybrid system. The previous generation was available in markets outside Japan, including North America, under the name Prius C, but the current version remains exclusive to the Japanese market.
Expected Exterior Changes
Official images have not been released yet, but independent designer Tokki Totsu has created a rendering showcasing potential changes. It includes slimmer LED headlights and sportier bumpers, inspired by the new Prius. These modifications harmoniously blend with the existing body lines, giving the car a sharper look.

Interior and Technical Specifications Updates
In addition to exterior changes, updates to the cabin are expected, such as a modern digital instrument panel and advanced safety features. Changes to the TNGA-B platform, which the Aqua shares with the Yaris and Yaris Cross, are possible, but details are currently unknown.
Hybrid System and Battery
The current hybrid system combines a 1.5-liter gasoline engine with two electric motors, with a total output of 114 hp. The Aqua is also equipped with a bipolar nickel-metal hydride battery, allowing it to operate in electric mode longer than the previous model.
Presentation Date
According to Japanese sources, the updated Aqua could debut as early as September 1st, or be presented on October 30th at the Japan Mobility Show in Tokyo. Official details are still awaited.
The Aqua facelift could significantly boost its competitiveness in the market, especially considering the growing demand for eco-friendly vehicles. The updated design and technologies could attract new buyers looking for a stylish and efficient hybrid car.
