Mercedes-AMG CLE 63 Mythos is approaching the start of production
Mercedes-AMG, known for its high-performance cars, has long limited the power of its coupes. The predecessor, the E-Class Coupe, and its successor, the CLE, topped out at the 53 version. However, the situation is changing: a new CLE 63 Mythos model is being developed, which promises to become a true star.
The car, first announced back in January, will have a radical exterior and an appropriately powerful powertrain. Recently, spy photographers captured a prototype during testing on the Nürburgring track.
Aggressive design and aerodynamics
The new coupe looks like a worthy successor to the legendary CLK Black Series. It inherits features from the CLE 53 but receives a unique front bumper with a full-width lower air intake. The car is equipped with an extreme aerodynamic kit, which includes:
Alloy wheels and a high-performance braking system complete the picture. Rear changes include a square exhaust system with four tips, a hallmark of the 63 version, and a new diffuser. Also noticeable are a vented hood and updated openings on the front fenders.
Interior and features of the Mythos series
The interior will likely retain the basic architecture with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and an 11.9-inch multimedia system. However, for the limited Mythos series, the following are expected:
- More aggressive sport seats
- Carbon fiber trim
- Weight reduction measures, possibly even removal of the rear seats
The CLE 63 will become the second car in the exclusive Mythos family, intended for collectors. The first was the Mercedes‑AMG PureSpeed, released in a run of 250 units. It is reported that the CLE 63 may be even rarer – rumors speak of only 30 examples.
Expected powertrain
Rumors suggest that under the hood could be a completely new 4.0-liter V8 with twin-turbocharging and a flat-plane crankshaft, producing around 637 hp. This is 194 hp more than the CLE 53 version, promising an entirely new level of dynamics for this class.
The appearance of such a model is an important step for AMG, especially against the backdrop of the abandonment of the V8 in the regular C63 series. The CLE 63 Mythos does not just fill a niche but creates a new segment of extremely limited, track-focused versions, combining exclusivity with the highest technologies. Its potential rarity and power make it not just a car, but a future collectible asset, continuing the tradition of legendary “Black Series” models.
