Mercedes-AMG One: Recall Due to Fire Risk
The German transport authority has announced a recall of 219 Mercedes-AMG One hypercars due to a potential malfunction that could lead to a fire. The problem concerns the hydraulic line of the active rear spoiler, where a fastener may be missing.
This recall occurred just three weeks after one of the AMG Ones burned down in Germany. Although the official cause of the fire has not yet been confirmed, experts believe it is not related to the current issue.
Problem Details
Mercedes plans to release only 275 units of the AMG One, 183 of which are in Germany. The manufacturer has reported one incident related to this malfunction, but without serious consequences.
Fixing the problem is relatively simple: dealerships must check for the presence of the fastener and install it if it is missing. However, this situation once again highlights the complexity of operating hypercars with technologies borrowed from Formula 1.
The Mercedes-AMG One has come a long way to serial production, and this case shows how difficult it is to adapt racing technologies for road use. Despite all engineering efforts, sometimes even the smallest details can cause serious problems.
