Despite Mercedes-Benz presenting the CLE coupe as the successor to the C-Class and E-Class Coupe models not long ago, the automotive world moves fast, and updates are already being prepared. Fresh spy photos confirm that the updated CLE will not undergo radical changes but will receive light adjustments to align with the brand’s current design direction.
The main changes concern the front of the car. The prototype hides new lighting under camouflage foil. It is expected that the LED daytime running lights will receive the signature star-pattern design that Mercedes is implementing across its entire lineup. Similar elements can already be seen on upcoming versions of the S-Class, E-Class, and SL.
New radiator grille and unchanged rear
The radiator grille will also likely be somewhat modified. Although details are still hidden, it appears taller and narrower than on the current model, altering its proportions.
The rear of the car, judging by everything, will remain practically unchanged. It is not yet clear whether this prototype is simply using old components or if the rear-end design will carry over entirely into series production.
However, considering the new generation CLA, which received star-pattern lights both front and rear, Mercedes may be striving for a unified style. Therefore, it is possible that the CLE will also receive an updated rear light signature later on.
Interior and powertrains: What will remain familiar
The interior of the updated CLE, according to rumors, will not undergo serious changes. Most likely, it will retain the current layout with two screens, rather than switching to the hyperscreen from flagship models or the simplified single-display interface as in the electric GLC. The cabin will remain recognizable with minor refinements.
Power for the top AMG version

The most interesting news concerns the top AMG CLE 63 version. Instead of the current hybrid powertrain based on a four-cylinder engine, the car will receive a new 4.0-liter bi-turbo V8 with a flat-plane crankshaft. This unit will debut in the updated S-Class.
Power figures have not been disclosed yet, but it is expected that in the AMG version it will approach or even cross the 600 horsepower mark.
For comparison, the current C63 uses a hybrid system with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine and an electric motor. Even if the new V8 formally has less power on paper, its sound and character will likely make the transition more than justified for enthusiasts.
The Mercedes CLE facelift demonstrates a cautious but important evolution of the model. The brand is updating the design to maintain relevance while making a strategic step back to large-displacement engines in high-performance versions, which will undoubtedly be warmly received by the audience. This shows how Mercedes balances new trends with classic values in the coupe segment.
