Mercedes sharply reduced prices on the EQ lineup and stopped taking orders

Mercedes lowers prices on EQ electric vehicles in the USA

Mercedes-Benz has significantly reduced prices on its lineup of EQ electric vehicles in the USA to stimulate sales. Discounts range from $4,000 to over $15,000 on EQE and EQS models in sedan and SUV body styles. For example, the price of the EQE sedan has decreased from $76,050 to $66,100, and its SUV version has become cheaper by $12,950.

The biggest discount applies to the EQS SUV – the price dropped by $15,300 to $91,100. Simultaneously, the company has stopped taking orders for all four EQE and EQS models for the American market. Production of these cars for the USA at the Alabama plant will cease from September 1st, although it will continue for other markets.

The future of electric Mercedes in America

A company representative stated:

“We want to respond to customer and market demand. For competitive reasons, we cannot disclose the timing of opening orders for these models in the future”

Mercedes is preparing a new wave of electric vehicles for the American market. By the end of 2025, the new electric CLA sedan is expected to appear, followed by two SUVs on the same MMA platform. The electric G-Class will remain on sale, despite low sales.

These steps indicate serious changes in Mercedes’ electrification strategy in the USA. The company clearly overestimated the demand for its premium electric vehicles and is now adapting to market realities, where buyers are not ready to overpay for the brand in this segment. Future models will likely receive a different approach to pricing and marketing.
