Interior of the electric Mercedes C-Class shown ahead of premiere
Mercedes-Benz is preparing for the world premiere of the fully electric C-Class sedan, scheduled for April 20. However, the car’s interior has already been shown to the public. The most impressive element was the massive MBUX Hyperscreen display, which stretches almost the entire width of the dashboard.
The main features of the new interior are:
Digital space instead of classic elements
The manufacturer describes the interior of the new electric sedan as a “driver-focused sanctuary,” although at first glance it more closely resembles a moving digital billboard. The monitor appears to replicate the 39.1-inch Hyperscreen from the electric GLC EV SUV. This feature might make the recently updated flagship EQS and S-Class models feel either slightly ahead or already behind, depending on the point of view.
Experience relentlessly reminds us that glass cannot replace the tangible confidence of a real button or knob.
Fortunately, a complete abandonment of physical elements did not happen. Controls remain on the center console and on the steering wheel, the latter seemingly borrowed unchanged from the electric SUV.
Comfort and space of the new generation
Mercedes promises that the electric sedan will offer more interior space than ever before. “Exceptional” comfort over long distances is supposed to be ensured by new seats, an improved climate control system, and enhanced sound insulation.
The appearance of such an interior in the C-Class model, which is traditionally a mass-market vehicle, indicates rapid digitalization even in the business sedan segment. The focus on screens and virtual interfaces is becoming a major trend, while simultaneously sparking debates about the loss of tactile connection with the car. The success of this concept among buyers will show how ready the market is for a complete transition from analog to digital control panels in everyday cars.
