The American division of Mini has officially unveiled the updated Countryman crossover for the 2027 model year. One of the main highlights is the return of the budget-friendly Oxford Edition trim.
Details on the Oxford Edition
The new base version is built on the Countryman S ALL4 platform. Its starting price is $34,900, excluding a $1,350 destination charge. This makes it the most affordable Countryman on the US market, as it is $4,000 cheaper than the Countryman S ALL4 Signature Plus trim.
The car is offered in three body colors: Chili Red, Blazing Blue Metallic, or Nanuq White Metallic. All are paired with a contrasting black roof, black mirror caps, tinted glass, and 18-inch glossy black alloy wheels fitted with all-season tires.
Equipment and Interior
Details about the interior are limited, but it is known that the Oxford Edition trim includes an anthracite headliner, as well as sport-type seats in blue and gray, upholstered in a combination of fabric and Vescin synthetic leather. Since most equipment is borrowed from higher trims, one can expect the presence of the round multimedia system and a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine producing 241 horsepower with 295 lb-ft of torque.
The company will also offer a special accessory package for this model priced at $720. It includes retro-style hood graphics, mirror caps with the Union Jack flag, as well as a black license plate frame and decorative valve stem caps.
Updates for Other Versions
For the Favoured Style option, available for the Countryman S ALL4 and the electric Countryman SE ALL4, a trailer hitch and a spare tire (for the gasoline version) are now included as standard. This adds $700-$1,000 worth of equipment, yet the cost of the option itself has increased by only $100.
The electric Countryman SE ALL4 version is abandoning the spare tire in favor of a new Seal & Drive tire repair kit. According to the manufacturer, the device magnetically attaches to the wheel and uses a combination of air and sealant to fix a puncture while driving slowly, allowing one to reach a service center.
For the Signature Plus and Iconic trims, a universal garage door remote option has appeared as a separate item for $250.
Pricing Policy for 2027
Here is the complete list of starting prices for the 2027 model year Countryman:
The return of the budget-friendly Oxford Edition trim is an interesting move in a market increasingly shifting towards more expensive electric models and expanded equipment. This allows Mini to attract new customers seeking the brand’s characteristic design and driving experience but at a more accessible price. Changes in standard packages, such as adding a trailer hitch, indicate adaptation to practical needs, while the switch to a repair kit instead of a spare tire in electric versions reflects a general trend of optimizing weight and space. The introduction of a separate garage door remote option, despite its high cost, gives buyers more flexibility in forming the final vehicle configuration.
