Tesla has launched a new accessory – a lighting kit for the front trunk (frunk) of its popular Model 3 and Model Y. The $100 kit is designed for easy DIY installation and is fully reversible. However, it is only suitable for vehicles manufactured between 2020 and 2024, not for the refreshed versions.
Regardless of various opinions about Tesla and its CEO, the company continues to produce innovative electric cars and accessories for them. The new lighting kit is a simple but useful solution, as many electric cars lack lighting in the front trunk.
The kit includes an LED strip that attaches under the trunk seal and a power supply unit that connects to the emergency release connector.
Limitations and Alternatives
Currently, the accessory is incompatible with the refreshed Model 3 Highland and Model Y Juniper, but reports indicate that a similar kit is being prepared for them. In addition to lighting, Tesla offers a wide range of accessories, including roof racks, floor mats, and sunshades.
This launch highlights Tesla’s attention to detail and owner needs. While some may consider the lighting a minor detail, it can significantly improve the comfort of using the frunk in the dark.
