In the UK, an old 1984 Renault 5 was sold at a Silverstone Auctions auction. The price of the Renault is surprising – £86,625 or $113,000.
The fact is that the rather rare hot hatch Renault 5 Turbo II was up for auction. Just over 3000 of these cars were produced.
The Renault 5 Turbo differs significantly from the standard model. Firstly, it became mid-engined and, accordingly, two-seater. Secondly, it was equipped with a 1.4-liter turbo four-cylinder engine, producing 185 hp in the Turbo II version.
The small 3.6-meter hot hatch Renault weighed only a ton, which made it very nimble. It accelerated to 100 km/h in 6.7 seconds, and the maximum speed was 203 km/h.
The Renault 5 Turbo II is recognizable by its widened rear fenders with air intakes, and inside, it has sports seats and a steering wheel.
This car is in excellent condition – it has original wheels, body kit, and interior. The 35-year-old Renault has a mileage of only 27,000 km.
