Mitsubishi introduced a new full-size three-row SUV, but it is not Pajero

New Mitsubishi Destinator: A family SUV for ASEAN markets

The global market continues to be replenished with new SUVs, and Mitsubishi was no exception. The brand introduced the Destinator – a family off-roader with three rows of seats, which will initially be released in ASEAN countries. Despite some similarity to other models, this is a completely new car.

The production version of the DST concept received a turbocharged 1.5-liter engine with 161 hp and 250 Nm of torque. The unit is paired with a variator (CVT), drive – only to the front wheels. However, five control modes, a comfortably tuned suspension, and high ground clearance make the Destinator adapted to difficult road conditions.

Design and Interior

Externally, the Destinator stands out with a massive radiator grille and sculpted body panels, although some concept details were somewhat simplified for serial production. The wheelbase is 2,815 mm, making it larger than the Toyota RAV4 but more compact than the Outlander.

The interior features seven seats in three rows; the digital instrument panel combines a 12.3-inch multimedia screen and an 8-inch instrument cluster. Options include a Yamaha audio system, a panoramic roof, and ADAS safety systems.

The public presentation will take place on July 23 at an auto show in Indonesia, where sales will begin immediately. The next markets will be Vietnam and the Philippines, and later the Destinator will appear in South Asia, Latin America, and Africa. This model could become key for Mitsubishi in the fight for market share in regions where SUV popularity continues to grow.
