Tesla Introduces New Long-Wheelbase Model Y L in China
Tesla has launched a new modification of the Model Y L on the Chinese market, which features an extended wheelbase and is designed for family buyers. This version offers six seats and significantly more interior space.
Updated Design and Interior
Externally, the Model Y L is easily recognizable thanks to Tesla’s characteristic design, but the long-wheelbase version has several differences: a modified roofline, elongated rear doors, and unique 19-inch wheels. A more pronounced rear spoiler is also present.
The interior features a 16-inch display instead of the previous 15.4-inch one. The second row of seats is equipped with captain’s chairs featuring heating, ventilation, and power folding functions.
Practicality and Comfort
The third row of seats, although it looks a bit cramped, has an electric folding function. Rear passengers are provided with air vents and cup holders. The cargo volume is 89.7 cubic feet (2,539 liters), which is 14.2 cubic feet more than the regular Model Y.
Additional advantages include a panoramic glass roof, acoustic glass for noise reduction, an 18-speaker audio system, and an 8-inch display for rear passengers.

Technical Specifications
The Model Y L is equipped with all-wheel drive and two motors. The range according to the CLTC cycle is 467 miles (751 km). Acceleration from 0 to 62 mph (0–100 km/h) takes 4.5 seconds—0.2 seconds slower than the standard model.
The vehicle’s weight has increased by 212 pounds (96 kg) and now stands at 4,603 pounds (2,088 kg). To compensate for the additional mass, an updated suspension has been installed, ensuring smoothness and precise handling on various road types.
Price and Safety
The base price of the Model Y L in China is ¥339,000 (approximately $47,199), which is ¥25,500 ($3,550) more expensive than the all-wheel-drive Model Y. Standard equipment includes an automatic emergency braking system, collision warning, and lane departure warning. Two driver assistance packages are also available to expand functionality.
The appearance of the Model Y L on the Chinese market underscores the growing demand for electric vehicles with increased space, especially among family buyers. This model combines Tesla’s technological innovations with the practicality needed for daily use. The increased range and comfort make it a competitor in the rapidly developing premium electric vehicle segment in Asia.
