Austrian company KTM is primarily known as a manufacturer of motorcycle technology. However, since 2008, it has also been producing simple and lightweight sports cars KTM X-Bow. But as of yesterday, the range of the Austrians has been complemented by the KTM X-Bow GT-XR coupe – a coupe for those who understand drive and seek to get the maximum “pure” pleasure from driving without excess electronics.

In fact, this car was supposed to see the world at the beginning of 2020, but only now has KTM adapted it for public roads. The X-Bow GT-XR sports car has all the light devices, a place for license plates, and most importantly – a civilian exhaust system with a silencer and catalyst (which is absent in track models).

In fact, the GT2/GTX/GT-XR coupe is the second model for the KTM company because the unification with X-Bow is minimal. The coupe has a noticeably increased wheelbase (2850 mm instead of 2430 mm) and an original carbon fiber monocoque.
The external panels are made from the same material: the design was developed by the German company Kiska. There are no regular doors, the cabin is accessed through a single electric-powered “canopy,” and the side windows open separately.

The KTM X-Bow GT-XR has air conditioning and electric power steering, but this is where the list of comfort elements ends. Even though the seats are relatively “soft,” they do not have adjustments: only the pedal unit position can be adjusted. The racing steering wheel with an integrated instrument display has been retained, and instead of side rearview mirrors, cameras and separate screens are installed in the cabin. A 160-liter luggage compartment is located between the seats and the engine compartment.

Specifications of the KTM X-Bow GT-XR
- Five-cylinder turbo engine Audi 2.5 TFSI.
- Power of 500 hp (581 Nm) or 600 hp and 720 Nm (in the charged version)
- Transmission: seven-speed preselective “robot” DQ500
- Rear-wheel drive with a self-locking differential
- Suspension – with adjustable Sachs shock absorbers (for an additional fee – hydraulics that lift the front end to pass bumps).
- Acceleration to one hundred – 3.4 s
- Maximum speed – 280 km/h
The dry weight of the car is 1130 kg, and with technical fluids but without fuel – 1250 kg. This is an important clarification because the fuel tank capacity is as much as 96 liters, and this reserve can be enough for a 1000 km run in “long-haul” mode. The starting price is 285 thousand euros. The company plans to produce up to 100 copies of the new model per year.
