An Artist Painted a Lexus IS, and Now It Resembles a Comic Book Hero

Lexus Presents Unique Art Cars

The automaker Lexus recently presented two exclusive cars created in collaboration with artists. One model focuses on visual art, and the other on musical heritage.

Collaboration with Alex Alpert

A unique Lexus IS 350, developed together with artist Alex Alpert, was presented at the EXPO Chicago exhibition. The car is executed in the artist’s signature linear-graphic style: black lines accentuate the sedan’s forms, creating the impression that it is a blueprint for its production.

This F Sport version received black wheels, mirrors, and dark window trim. Under the hood, the familiar 3.5-liter V6 with 311 horsepower is likely located, allowing the car to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 5.9 seconds.

Furthermore, Alex Alpert will paint individual hoods for the IS 350 at NYCxDesign and Art Basel events, incorporating symbols related to the Lexus brand values and Japanese heritage.

Musical Tribute to Miles Davis

The second special project is the Lexus RZ electric crossover, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of legendary musician Miles Davis’s birth. The car was created in collaboration with musician Laufey, inspired by her interpretation of Davis’s composition “Blue In Green.”

The exterior received a special paint job that changes its hue from deep blue to green depending on the lighting. Among the details are an illuminated “L” logo and brass-colored brake calipers, reminiscent of Davis’s trumpet.

Original Interior and Sound Accompaniment

The interior continues the brass theme, combined with red and black upholstery. Song lyrics are applied in the trunk compartment, and the first notes of “Blue In Green” play when the car is started.

These projects demonstrate how the automotive industry is increasingly turning to art to create unique products. Such collaborations not only enhance the cultural value of the car but also expand its perception beyond ordinary transportation. For Lexus, this is also a way to emphasize its attention to detail and individuality, offering customers something more than standard models. The musical theme in the RZ, in particular, shows the potential of electric vehicles as a platform for a multi-sensory experience, where design, sound, and technology combine in a single creative expression.
