In the USA, a 1939 Porsche Type 64 will be sold at auction. This is the very first Porsche model and the oldest German car that has been preserved to this day.
Ferdinand Porsche built three Porsche Type 64s for the Berlin-Rome marathon. This particular car is the second one (the first one was crashed during tests).
One glance at the Porsche Type 64 is enough to understand that it was created based on the Beetle.
The coupe is equipped with a 32-horsepower flat-four engine, but thanks to its streamlined design, it could reach about 140 km/h.
The Type 64 eventually evolved into the Porsche 356. This car was long in Ferdinand Porsche’s collection, but after World War II it was sold to racer Otto Mathe, who even won the 1950 Alpine Rally with it.
Over 80 years, the car has had only four owners. It has been restored and is in good condition.
It is expected that the price of the Porsche Type 64 will reach several million dollars.
