The rarest 1991 Isdera Imperator 108i was put up for auction at Bonhams in Monaco. In essence, it’s a Mercedes-Benz, even though it doesn’t bear the three-pointed star.
The supercar began its life in 1978 as the Mercedes CW311 concept designed by Eberhard Schulz. The angular chisel car with gullwing doors caused a sensation, but Mercedes refused to produce a serial model.
Then Schulz founded the company Isdera and decided to manufacture the coupe on his own. Mercedes cooperated with him and even started supplying AMG engines.
The Isdera Imperator 108i was produced in very small batches since 1984, and only 30 of these supercars were made. This particular coupe belongs to the second series and is distinguished by its pop-up headlights. Some interior parts are borrowed from the Porsche 928.
The Mercedes supercar is equipped with a five-liter V8 engine producing 330 hp. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5 seconds and can reach a top speed of 283 km/h.
Currently, the rare car is expected to sell for between 500,000 to 700,000 euros. By the way, another Isdera model, known from Need for Speed, was also sold at auction not long ago.
