In the USA, a unique record car was put up for an online auction. The ultra-fast Spectre Speedliner is capable of exceeding 650 km/h. Surprisingly, the price of the car is only 23,356 dollars.
The streamlined bolide is equipped with a turbocharged Cadillac V8 engine with a volume of 7.9 liters, operating on both gasoline and ethanol. It is paired with a 5-speed automatic transmission, and carbon-ceramic discs and a brake parachute decelerate the car.
The body is made from an aluminum airplane fuel tank.
The Spectre Speedliner began its construction back in 1995, and it set its first record in 2004, reaching 497 km/h. The bolide was constantly upgraded, improving its achievements.
Gradually, its maximum speed was increased to 560, and then to 644 km/h. On September 24, 2010, in Bonneville, it reached 658 km/h over a one-mile distance.
For a long time, it was the fastest car in the world with an internal combustion engine, with only jet bolides being faster. Its record was only broken in 2018.
Currently, the Spectre Speedliner is not operational and requires minor repairs. But even considering this, the price is still low.
