An engine from a 1995 Ferrari Formula 1 car is being sold at an auction on eBay. The starting price of the engine is impressive – $375,000.
In front of us is the most expensive car engine in the world. For this money, you can buy a Ferrari 812 supercar, for example. Although from a technical standpoint, the Ferrari engine is a masterpiece of its time.
The three-liter naturally aspirated V12 Ferrari Tipo 044/1 with qualifying settings develops 760 hp and revs up to 17,000 rpm. For the race, power is limited to 600 hp. The Ferrari engine weighs only 132 kg.
The Formula 1 car engine is, of course, impressive, but nothing is known about its resource. And the V12s of those years lasted at most a couple of races, so the purchase is very risky.
But on the other hand, it’s not necessary to install a racing engine in a car; it can simply be an exhibit in a collection.
