Who would have thought that the miniature Oka VAZ-1111 would become the basis for an all-terrain vehicle. Such a car is currently on sale for only 3000 dollars.
This off-road monster, named Ayu, was built in the Tyumen region. Apparently, the all-terrain vehicle was put together from what was available. The body of the Oka was found in a landfill, the VAZ-1111’s front panel was used, and the steering wheel is from a Volvo.
The vehicle is based on an articulated frame. The transfer case, driveshafts, and radiator were taken from a Niva, and the steering was from a GAZ truck. The differentials were custom-made by enthusiasts, and the wheels are from a PTS trailer.
Amazingly, this wonder car is powered by an Oka engine. So, you shouldn’t expect outstanding dynamics, although it isn’t needed in the mud.
However, Ayu is impressive off-road.
