Toyota Crown Sedan is the safest car according to NASVA in 2024
The Japanese Crown Sedan by Toyota received the highest safety rating from the National Agency for Automotive Safety (NASVA) in 2024. The model scored 95% in tests, showing particularly high results in accident prevention. It is followed by the Mazda CX-80 and Honda Civic with 94%.
NASVA conducts tests that simulate real accidents at a speed of 50 km/h, as well as evaluates pedestrian safety and driver assistance systems.
“The Toyota Crown Sedan received 188.39 points out of 197, which corresponds to 95% and a five-star safety rating,” experts report.
The Toyota Safety Sense system was especially highly rated for its effectiveness both during the day and at night.
Other participants in the testing
In addition to the Crown Sedan, the 2024 tests included the Mazda CX-80, Honda Civic, Honda WR-V, Honda Freed, and Suzuki Fronx. Four out of the six models received five stars, while the rest received four. Despite the high results, the Crown Sedan could not surpass the performance of the Subaru Crosstrek and Impreza, which scored 98% in 2023.
This model is available in Japan in two versions—hybrid and hydrogen. Currently, only the crossover and station wagon versions of the Crown are offered in North America.
The test results confirm that Japanese manufacturers continue to improve the safety of their vehicles. The effectiveness of accident prevention systems, which are becoming standard for new models, is particularly impressive. At the same time, the difference of a few percentage points among the leaders indicates intense competition in the market.
