BMW prepares new generations of X5, X6, and X7
Despite the current BMW X-family lineup being quite modern, the company is already preparing new generations of these models. They are expected to feature various powertrains, updated technologies, and changes aimed at an electric future.
Details about the new models
The fifth generation of the X5 (G65) will be built on the CLAR platform but will incorporate elements from future Neue Klasse models. This is significant because the lineup will include a fully electric iX5, as well as versions with gasoline, diesel, hybrid, and hydrogen engines.
According to sources, the iX5 will have a 20% higher energy density, a 30% greater range, and faster charging speeds compared to BMW’s current technologies.
The second generation of the X7 (G67) will debut in 2027. Its electric version, the iX7 M70, may receive over 800 hp, with a future Alpina model potentially reaching around 900 hp.
An updated X6 (G66) is also planned, likely to receive an electric iX6 version in 2028. All these models will be produced in the U.S. due to investments in the South Carolina plant.
The BMW lineup update demonstrates the company’s active efforts to expand its electric offerings while retaining traditional ICE options. Particularly interesting are the high-performance versions from M Performance and Alpina, which could become new leaders in their segments.
