The Maddest Corvette Tests Secret Weapon on the Race Track

New Corvette Zora Tested on the Nürburgring

The first reviews of the top Corvette model have just appeared, but Chevrolet engineers are already actively working on an even more powerful version called the Zora. Currently, the team is testing the car on the legendary Nürburgring track to determine its maximum speed.

Fresh photos show two different prototypes—a purple one and a yellow one—undergoing testing on the 20.8-kilometer track. Rumor has it that the team will spend three weeks at the Nürburgring, which could lead to a new record among production cars.

Zora’s Technical Features

The base Corvette C8 is already impressive with a 0-100 km/h acceleration in 3 seconds, but the Zora, named after legendary engineer Zora Arkus Duntov, will raise the bar to a new level. This model combines a twin-turbocharged V8 from the ZR1 with 1064 hp with a front electric motor from the hybrid e-Ray. The expected total power will be around 1200 hp, allowing it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 2.5 seconds.

Externally, the prototypes resemble the ZR1 thanks to aggressive air intakes and a large spoiler, but the presence of yellow hybrid badges indicates that this is indeed the Zora. Experts suggest that this model could lap the Nürburgring significantly faster than the 6:52.072 set by the Ford GT, and possibly even approach the record of the Mercedes-AMG One (6:29.09).

Chevrolet is clearly aiming to compete with the most expensive European supercars. The success of the Zora on the “Green Hell” could radically change the perception of American sports cars worldwide. It is particularly impressive that such a powerful car is being developed on a production platform, demonstrating GM’s technological potential.
